Frequently Asked Questions

How can you paint a home so economically?  We are specialists in painting people's homes.  Our customers help us with "word of mouth" referrals that save us from having to pass along expensive advertising.  Our employees are interchangeable, and work well together.  They tend to stay with us longer than normal painters, because of the stability.  We don't try to be the biggest painters in the market, but instead, work with good customers than can command a lower price on higher quality painting materials.  By "sharing these savings" with our customers, we are able to generate a steady stream of projects, keeping our painters working year round.  Add it all up, and that's how The Painting System is able to save you money!

What IS your "Painting System"?  Our system is the steady flow of specific tasks necessary to properly prepare and paint your home.  A good example is how we set up on each job.  Two men unload the pressure washer, while another man begins covering delicate plants to protects them from the bleach solution we use to kill the mildew.  Another painter begins searching out the mildew to kill, while a fourth painter is loading a series of caulking guns for use, and then begins any scraping and/or sanding necessary.  This orderly process continues through our "12 Step Preparation Plan," and into our "two coat painting and backrolling system."  Our painters can handle any of the individual items, and thus can continue working from the beginning to the end of the job.  If any member of the crew happens to be sick, the system continues with the most senior journeyman painter assuming "foreman" status.

Do I have to be present while the work is being done? No you don't!  However, we do like to coordinate completion for a time when someone is home to allow us to paint the inside rims of the doors, to provide a second set of eyes for a walk around, and payment upon completion.

Can you help us find someone to replace some deteriorated boards? Certainly!  We keep the numbers of available handymen, and contractors that we have observed doing good work.  We can also coordinate the painting with the repairs.

What is this "Elastomeric Material" some painters have told us about?  And do I really want to use it on my home?  Elastomeric is a terpolymer coating used to waterproof masonry surfaces (like stucco).  We have been blending it with Latex, and now Acrylic, materials for over 30 years as an additive to fill cracks in t-111 siding, and more recently, to aid thin stucco.  A common use would be to repair "pattern vertical or horizontal cracks" in wall surfaces, corners showing wires, and stucco surfaces where the scratch coat is showing through the finish stucco coat.  We often roll our walls before painting with this type of material as a priming step when needed.  We have also manufactured material available from several sources, which is somewhat more expensive than normal exterior material (because it's thicker, and more expensive per gallon), but we feel it will protect and last longer than normal paint.

My top fascia boards and lower trim boards have cracks in them and they are warping.  Do I need to replace them?  Not usually.  If there is any question, we can call a contractor to look at them, but our "12 Step Preparation Plan" is more than sufficient to scrape, sand, prime, and fill before painting and they typically look beautiful when we're done.

Do I have to hire a yard man to come in and cut back my plants close to the house? No, not usually.  We just need to have the plants cut so nothing is touching the walls.  And as a long as it's not signification, we can usually do it for you if you'll help with a little direction.

And finally, we hope you'll be asking..."How do we sign up?" We're just a phone call away!  Call our office at (916) 488-6687, or if you would like some additional or specific information, our contractor Frank Baldwin at (916) 606-3998. We can talk about getting the paperwork done at your convenience, and schedule you quickly!
